2002 Montana Summer Symphony

The Montana Summer Symphony features nearly 100 musicians and seven conductors drawn from all corners of the state, performing outdoors before a live audience under the Big Sky. Images that celebrate our western lifestyle, wildlife, and history with a distinctly patriotic theme are woven throughout the program. With the theme This Great Land, Artistic Director John Zoltek has crafted a program that enfolds the patriotic emotions felt by many Americans living in the West with the pride in our shared history and the truly magnificent landscape we call home - Montana. Special guest pianist and Montana native Philip Aaberg, joins the Montana Summer Symphony for a performance of High Plains and Westbound from his 2002 Grammy nominated CD "Live From Montana". From pop and country to experimental jazz, over 60 of Aaberg's piano pieces have been recorded on the Windham Hill and Sweetgrass Music labels. Recorded August 2002.
